CANNONSBURG, Ky. — Plans are in the works for a new football and soccer complex at Boyd County High School although it might be years before the district can afford to build the complex.
The school board this month contracted with the Sherman Carter Barnhart architecture firm to draw up design options and submit cost estimates to convert the existing soccer practice field.
The practice field was recently developed as part of the contract to build a softball field. It is located directly in front of the high school, which is on a plateau overlooking Kentucky 180 across from the former high school.
The master plan developed for the site during design of the high school shows a football field and track in that location with a field house at one end.
Pictorial renderings show bleachers built into the slope in front of the school, presumably home-team seating for games in the proposed stadium.
The firm will put together multiple building options for the complex. Sherman Carter Barnhart also designed the high school and the middle-school renovation.
