For more than 108 years, King’s Daughters Medical Center has served the healthcare needs of the residents of the Tri-State. In the past decade, it has grown and expanded to serve communities throughout eastern Kentucky and southern Ohio.

The jewel of the campus is the Heart and Vascular Center, which features the region’s advanced heart and vascular care services. Registration, pre-admission testing, diagnostic and interventional procedures and recovery all take place in one convenient location.

Completed in 2006, the five-floor, 200,000 square-foot Heart and Vascular Center features cardiac catheterization and vascular/interventional radiology labs and non-invasive testing/cardiac imaging, as well as a 20-bed Chest Pain Unit and three additional inpatient cardiac nursing units. The Heart and Vascular Center also includes the Cardiology Clinic, which provides outpatient monitoring for heart failure patients and individuals who require Coumadin and lipid management.

Also in 2006 KDMC introduced the Center for Advanced Imaging, where futuristic design reflects the state-of-the-art technology inside. The center is equipped with Tri-State’s most advanced diagnostics, including computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), as well as digital X-ray and mammography, ultrasound and other imaging services. Customer care is a key feature of the Center for Advanced Imaging. Plenty of parking is provided, and patients can be picked up and dropped off at the front door of the facility. In addition, when patients arrive for testing, the entire process, from registration to procedure, takes place at the center.

KDMC extends quality healthcare beyond the walls of the medical center campus. King’s Daughters operates 11 Family Care Centers in eastern Kentucky and southern Ohio. In 2007, a new expanded Grayson Family Care Center will open on the Kentucky Christian University campus. The facility will feature family medical services, a specialty cardiology clinic and expanded imaging services, including CT scanning, stress testing and echocardiograms. The university’s growing nursing program also will utilize the facility.
King’s Daughters also is extending critical care services through the skies. KDMC’s air ambulance speeds cardiac patients to the medical center, and trauma patients to the nearest appropriate facility. Since its inception in Fall 2006, the bright red copter has flown more than 100 patients.
